Steve ZollosKeeping Our Seniors Healthy

Wow! Can you believe it’s been 15 years since Senior Health started bringing Good Help to the Seniors of Hampton Roads and Virginia! It seems like only yesterday that we merged all our local programs for seniors into one grand effort that has turned into a national model for knitting health and wellness into the fabric of our lives. No wonder we have grown to be one of the largest, and most active, membership programs in the country—with over 75,000 members in Hampton Roads alone.

Our Successful Aging Forum is a world-class event that serves over 1,000 participants each year and brings some of the most respected health and wellness experts in the country to our home town. We have seen Dr. Oz, Richard Simmons, the late Jack LaLanne, Pat Boone, Naomi Judd, Anne Jillian, Willard Scott, and a myriad of local professionals.

HealthFest is the premier health festival for seniors in Hampton Roads. At this event seniors take part in the health screenings, education on nutrition and fitness, and a healthy lunch. It’s a fun and healthy day out that over 400 seniors enjoyed last year.

SeniorHealth Programs

How about helping you stay socially involved? Our travel program takes planes, trains, and automobiles—not to mention boats and buses—to fun and beautiful locations around the world. Our local trips go to plays and shows right here in Hampton Roads, Williamsburg, Richmond, and North Carolina. We have gone as far afield as Italy, Greece, Ireland, and China. Why the trips? Because we know that active, learning seniors are healthier seniors.

Our transportation program provides rides to seniors who have no other means of getting to their medical appointments. This is literally a life saving service for many of our seniors. Our drivers are top notch and see to their riders’ every need.

Of course there’s GoodHealth Magazine as well, reaching every member each quarter with timely activities and a full array of health and wellness information.

Now add our Capital Hill Clubs, Holiday Gatherings, Spring Flings, and all our other programs and events, and you begin to see that Senior Health helps you get up, get out, and get involved. We are glad you are part of the healthy, active, Senior Health Program.
