Youth Survival Night
The East Ocean View Beach Athletic Association (EOVBAA) is sponsoring Youth Survival Seminar, August 26 – 27, for young people ages 8-16 who have demonstrated a desire to excel in their school work, as well as in their personal lives. Structured after a military boot camp, the faith-based overnight event instills a fresh sense of pride, a new level of respect for people, and a realization of the power of prayer in the lives of participants.
During the camp, the children learn basic skills that can help them throughout their lives. These include: teamwork, avoiding peer pressure, showing respect for each other and their parents, self-discipline, and praying. They also learn about the importance of education and hygiene.
There are several ways to help.
Sponsor a child
Organizing a Youth Survival Night is a major undertaking. From the first planning session to the time the children arrive at the camp, sponsors and volunteers are hard at work to make it a memorable experience. It takes manpower, materials, and people willing to sponsor a child ($35). To sponsor a child, mail your check or money order payable to EOVBAA to P.O. Box 14530, Norfolk, VA 23518.
