All-American Seniors
Being an All-American Senior was once the sole domain of college athletes, but no longer. Senior adults, who 20 years ago would have been deemed 'over-the-hill,' are more active than ever and are making a difference to their country. Some are famous, like John Glenn and Clint Eastwood. There is Henry Clay Hofheimer, the philanthropist who helped DePaul Medical Center develop the Bon Secours Senior Health program, serving more than 30,000 seniors annually in Hampton Roads alone. Consider our exercise coordinators who have volunteered their expertise and countless hours over the many years to instruct seniors in fitness classes. Their efforts have undoubtedly resulted in many Hampton Roads residents living longer and healthier lives. Other heroes are our bus drivers, who provide FREE transportation to medical appointments for the elderly, and our office staff who volunteer their time. These heroes sacrifice daily so that others might live active and healthy lives.
