A. The program should minimally offer a skilled nursing center, an inpatient rehabilitation unit, and home care to provide a smooth transition from an inpatient stay.

Q. Is there a multi-specialty team of physicians, nurses and physical therapists to coordinate your care?
A. Yes, it is extremely important that you receive care from a team of qualified professionals.

Q. Does your center track patient satisfaction and can I get a copy of your scores?
A. If you can not obtain this information, consider another center.

Q. What treatment options does the program offer?
A. Surgery should be the last treatment option considered. Other options should include: physical therapy, medication, exercise programming, and aquatic therapy.

Q. In case surgery is needed, will my surgeon be board certified, highly respected, and experienced?
A. If you cannot be guaranteed that your surgeon has these qualifications, choose another program.

Q. Does the orthopedist specialize in joint replacement surgery?
A. If not, choose another physician.

Q. Does the hospital that the program is associated with have a unit that is dedicated to joint replacement and have a staff that is specially trained in recovery?
A. If no, choose another center.
