On May 4, 2002, Mary Immaculate Hospital celebrates 50 years of service to the Peninsula community. The Bernardine Franciscan Sisters came to Newport News in 1952 with a mission of community service and opened the hospital on Chesapeake Avenue. Today, 50 years later, Mary Immaculate Hospital is renowned for mission-inspired care and quality of service. Having recently received the very high accrediting rating (one almost unheard of in hospital accreditation), Mary Immaculate has again proven to be the best place to regain wellness on the Peninsula.
