Many communities around the country would love to have a program like the one found here in Hampton Roads. A transportation program that provides free rides to those seniors who are in need of medical attention but have no way to get to their medical appointments, the hospital, or the pharmacy.
Thanks to our caring community, we are able to continue this much needed service in Hampton Roads. The programs bus was quickly becoming unsafe and requests for transportation continued to grow daily. Seniors and non-seniors alike came to the rescue. Working with the Senior Community, the Sister Agatha Memorial Endowment Fund, The Wards Corner Lions Club, and the Auxiliary of DePaul, monies have been raised for the purchase of a new van to keep the program operational.
It is a tribute to the caring people of our community, according to Steve Zollos, Director of the program. I have never seen so many people rally to the support of our senior community. This van will be a bright light, a ray of hope to many seniors over the next 15 years and more.
We at Senior Health would like to thank everyone who supports our efforts whether financially, through volunteering, or through their prayers. We could not provide this good help without you.
