Assisting Physicians
The help I receive, as a physician, from the Senior Assessment Program has allowed me to provide the best care plan possible for my senior patients. I recently sent a patient, who is 90 years old and living alone, to the Bon Secours Senior Assessment Program. The only family she has is out of state, so I was naturally concerned about her ongoing health and social support system.
The team at the senior assessment program were not only able to provide medical insights, but also provided contacts to a variety of community resources that will help my patient remain in her home and more independent. I feel better knowing that she is being cared for even when she doesnt have a medical need.
Equally important is the help the assessment team gives to friends and families who are involved in caring for a loved one. They talk about the difficult concerns that family members are often hesitant to discuss. They help the family provide the best care possible for seniors.
When I make a referral to the senior assessment team I dont have to worry about my patient. I know they will provide a thorough evaluation and assessment that will assist me in providing the best care possible. Its a relief to know that I have a full team of specialists working for me and my patients.

Family Support
Mother hadnt seen a medical doctor in years because she's "not sick," and therefore didnt think she needed to see a doctor. I was very concerned, but I tried to convince myself that there was nothing to worry about. That day, I noticed an article about the Bon Secours Senior Assessment Program where my mother could receive a variety of services from one place.
Since my mother wasn't willing to go to the doctor any longer, I hoped this program would be able to cover everything she needed, and I wasnt disappointed.
I scheduled my mother for an assessment. The person who answered the phone spoke with me in great detail about what to expect, what I would need and how things would be handled. I even received a reminder call the day before our appointment.
When we arrived, the team cared for us as if they were part of our family. They were expecting us and spent plenty time talking with my siblings and me. During the physical examination, a lump was discovered in my moms breast. The assessment team provided us with constant pampering and support, assuring us that things would work out.
They got mom in immediately for x-rays and within the week my mother was scheduled for surgery. The day of surgery a member from the Assessment Team came to speak with my family and me to see how we were doing. Thankfully, we were able to report that the lump was benign. The surgeon we were referred to was personable, and had a good bedside manner and was also very reassuring. When the surgery was behind us we were able to return to the Senior Assessment Program to discuss what we could expect thereafter. Now mom is even seeing her physician again.
The Bon Secours Senior Assessment Program was a Godsend! If you are a caregiver, the senior assessment program could be a great help to you and your loved ones.
