What About Me?
The Jill Mitchellfuture of health care is looking up. Life expectancy is on the rise due to better health choices and advances in technology. So what about you? Can you tell how you are aging? How do you know if you are doing everything you can to maintain your health?

According to Jill Mitchell, RNC, there are key indicators of your health that you can monitor. Jill is a 2001 Dedicated Service Award winner for Bon Secours Health System and Nurse Supervisor of the Senior Assessment Program at DePaul Medical Center.

You, or a caregiver, can easily keep track of most health indicators simply by taking note of regular activities. Many indicators are determined by trends. Are you getting as much exercise as you were a month ago, 3 months ago, a year ago? Have you been gaining weight over the course of 3 to 6 months? Are you more active socially than you were 6 months ago?

How about some medical indicators? Is your blood pressure stable? Do you have increasing pain in your joints? Would you say you are more or less satisfied with your life today than you were 6 months ago?

As you can see, much of the information used to evaluate your health is readily available. Learn more about tracking your health at this year’s Successful Aging Conference. Jill Mitchell will outline these indicators and many more that are used in the Senior Assessment Program and across the country. Learn how to tell when a visit to your physician would benefit you and how to remain at your best. Choose the What About Me workshop.
