The Art of Life

SeniorHealth Magazine Cover: Naomi Judd“The sound of sparrow chatter, bicycle bells, and a far off radio crackling with Peking Opera mingled together in a discordant, yet somehow harmonious music. This day was again, so full of possibility... adventure... discovery.”

Beijing China, a bustling metropolis of the ancient and modern was my home for ten years – from 1989 to 1999. It was here that my love for art and creation was fueled; stimulated by thousands of sights, sounds, colors, smells, and sensations. It was here that I flew kites, bred exotic finches, played marbles with the local kids, had cricket fights with the old men in the park, rode my bike through time-worn villages, crowded into buses and subways warmed by the mass of bodies, bargained for antique pocket watches at open air markets, drank fragrant jasmine tea accompanied by traditional stringed instruments... my life was story book quality. – Jonathan Aumen
