Advanced Vascular Services

Vascular ImagingApproximately 15 million Americans suffer with vascular disease and most have no symptoms. Untreated, vascular disease can lead to stroke, ruptured blood vessels, heart attacks and blood clots, which result in thousands of amputations each year.

The good news is that our ability to treat peripheral vascular disease in Hampton Roads has improved dramatically. The Vascular Program at DePaul Medical Center is the only center of its kind in all of Virginia, and one of only three hospitals in the nation to offer new all digital cardiovascular imaging. This new technology is helping to provide better treatment of coronary artery blockages by allowing physicians to view hard-to-see blood vessels with exceptional clarity. The technology also allows faster procedure times and less radiation exposure.

“We’ve brought the future of cardiovascular imaging to Hampton Roads,” says Richard DeMasi, MD, chairman of the DePaul Medical Center Vascular Committee. “The significance of this imaging system is similar to the transition from typewriters to computers. It’s a revolutionary change that will let us provide excellent care for more patients.”
