Exciting things are happening as Mary Immaculate Hospital a member of the Bon Secours Health System increases their visibility in the community and escalates fund development activity. In December the hospital’s new donor recognition wall was unveiled during their annual Starlight Tree celebration. Mary Immaculate proudly invites their many friends to stop by the main lobby to see this beautiful expression of their gratitude for generous financial support from the community.
To more effectively communicate their mission, representatives from Mary Immaculate, as well as their Board of Directors, are stepping up their presence in the community. They recently participated in several Chamber of Commerce events, Achievable Dream’s Tennis Ball, the Patient Advocate Foundation’s annual gala, the Annual Humanitarian Awards Dinner hosted by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, and the 2008 Heart Gala sponsored by the American Heart Association. The fund development staff was also on hand at the Successful Aging Forum inviting guests to visit their display to learn about making a difference in the future of healthcare at Mary Immaculate.
Kicking off Mary Immaculate’s first direct mail campaign since the year 2000, nearly 3,000 letters have been mailed to former donors and local businesses updating them on the current state of healthcare at the hospital. They are striving for excellence having recently received the Orthopaedic Surgery Excellence Award from HealthGradesTM. This award, based on outstanding quality outcomes, placed Mary Immaculate among the top 10% of hospitals in the nation for orthopaedic surgery and first in Hampton Roads. The hospital also received a five-star rating for joint replacement surgery, total knee replacement and hip fracture repair.
Generous financial support has helped Mary Immaculate change lives for the better. Donations from the community will continue to play an important role in their growth and the programs they provide, enabling the hospital to continue the mission of faith-based healthcare brought to the Peninsula in 1952 by the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters.
