The DePaul Health Foundation received numerous donations this year in response to the Guardians of Good Help program. In July, Mr. John Barr donated $10,000 in memory of his mother, Mary Florence Barr, and in recognition of the excellent care provided by Betty Chamberlin, RN, Manuela DeLaCruz, MD, and the entire Transitional Care Center team at DePaul Medical Center. The money will be used to purchase a new blood pressure device, a scale, and a bladder scanner for the center.
Nurse education is expensive, but thanks to a generous donation it has been made a little easier. In recognition of the excellent care provided by Mary Watry, CNA, and other staff at DePaul Medical Center, the ‘Elizabeth Mesick Nurse Scholarship Fund’ was set up to provide resources for nurses so that they can continue providing excellent, up-to-date care.
In addition, two endowment funds, the A. Cherie Carter Endowment Fund and the JoAnn Mesick Endowment Fund, will assist current nursing students with expenses during their final year of studies. Recipients are selected by a five person committee according to academic standing and need.
