Revitalizing Your Body

Dancing on the beachDID YOU KNOW that seniors can actually improve their health? Many people have the old fashioned notion that after 65 it's "all down hill. Well nothing can be further from the truth. Remember, 65 is quickly becoming 'middle age' instead of 'old age.' You will very likely need your body to be fully functional through your 90s and even past the 100 mark, so let;s get busy!

Senior Health is poised to revitalize your physical well-being with a brand new, state-of-the-art exercise program that is designed expressly for seniors. "Bodies 'n Motion" utilizes key medical indicators, for health after 55, to monitor your progress. You will be working with certified instructors and educated by some of the leading exercise and health professionals in our community. This is a brand new program that is being piloted here in Hampton Roads. Here are a few of the reasons you should be involved in Bodies 'n Motion…

FIRST, Unlike many exercise programs, Bodies 'n Motion is instructed by teachers knowledgeable in how aging affects the body. This means that your exercise program can be easily adjusted to meet your specific needs. Whether you are trying to improve your health generally, or you have just completed a rehabilitation program, Bodies 'n Motion will provide the structure, education, and encouragement that you need to keep you healthy and active.

SECOND, Bodies 'n Motion offers key health screenings throughout the class that will enable you to 'track' your progress. Is the program really beneficial? Is your health really improving with your effort? Bodies 'n Motion participants will have no doubt.

PRACTICAL HEALTH: Instead of focusing on aerobic dancing or putting your body in strange positions, Bodies 'n Motion focuses on the practical aspects of aging. Maintaining flexibility through deep joint movement, recovering from falls, improving balance, and minimizing – or eliminating – joint pain are just a few of the areas that Bodies 'n Motion will assist you with. Also, health professionals will educate you on topics related to aging and physical activity.
