Nominate your favorite senior for the 2004 Senior Hero Award! It's easy and a great opportunity to recognize a senior for their influence on the next generations, the environment, their community or service to others. The award will be presented at the 6th Annual Successful Aging Forum on Friday, April 2, 2004.
Senior Hero: Presented by our keynote speaker to an individual who is at least 65 years old and currently residing in Hampton Roads. All the nominees will be recognized at this years event.
What to submit: The persons name, address, birth date, and phone number along with a one-page rationale for their nomination. Nominations longer than 1-page will not be considered.
Last year, the ebullient Willard Scott came to Hampton Roads to recognize a number of our outstanding seniors at the Successful Aging Forum. The 2003 Senior Hero Award was given to Ercell Jackson of Portsmouth for her vitality, her volunteer efforts, and her continued influence in our community.
Ercell, at age 81, has volunteered with the American Red Cross for 13 years, served as the Chairman for the American Heart Association Fund Drive and has spearheaded an effort to ensure that young children have books to read. Congratulations Ercell for being 2003's Senior Hero of Hampton Roads.
