Avoid A Fall – Before It Happens
I can’t walk by an older person without wanting to stop, shake their hand, and listen to their story. As a daughter and care taker for my mother, and as a partner in a construction company that specializes in fall prevention and accessibility, it never ceases to amaze me how many very active seniors find the course and quality of their lives completely changed with one fall – which in most cases could have been prevented!
So on I go trying to spread the word about the importance of fall prevention. I’m armed with statistics from the Centers for Disease Control, information from Falls Prevention Coalitions, solutions I gained by becoming a Certified Aging in Place Specialist, and stories from my customers about how they wish they had listened sooner. If just one person reads this article, chooses to respond now, and avoids a fall, then all my efforts will have been worth while. How about you? Have you done all you can to avoid a fall?
If you need help, I’m here for you. Every tool we have supports the creation of a safer environment for baby boomers (yes, we baby boomers are at risk too) and their parents.
